All aboard for a magical holiday train ride this season through the Great Smoky Mountains National Forest. The magical Polar Express voyage is the perfect roundtrip treat for the whole family. Start off in Bryson City (a little more than 4 hours from Raleigh so why not make a weekend getaway out of it?) and head towards the North Pole. Once you’re there, be greeted by Santa Claus. Santa Claus will hop on the Polar Express afterwards, greeting and giving a gift to each of the children aboard. Guests can also enjoy Christmas treats and hot chocolate on the train during the voyage to and from the North Pole!
Ticket prices range depending on which class you get. First Class is a swankier train cart, with lush leather couches, large windows, and soft interior carpeting. All guests will receive a special holiday treat, a warm cookie, and hot cocoa served in a souvenir mug that you can take home, as well as a souvenir tote. First Class starts at $67 for adults and $47 for children. Coach Class is the cheapest option with twin seating and guests will receive a cookie and hot cocoa on their trip. Tickets start at $43 for adults and $29 for children. Children under 2 are free. You can buy tickets on their website or through the number (800) 872-4681, and guests should arrive an hour before departure.
Voyages will start taking off on Friday, November 12th, with three different voyages on select dates. The first starts at 5pm, the second at 6:40pm, and the last train takes off at 8:20pm. In December, trains will be making this magical voyage every day of the month at the same times, so there will be plenty of opportunities to head to the North Pole.
We hope you take advantage of this lovely and festive trip this year, and we’re happy to see the return of the Polar Express.
