Welcome to McAdenville, also nicknamed, Christmas Town USA for its spectacular and dazzling light performance they put on every year. Even better, it’s less than 3 hours away from Raleigh, which means you can come here for the evening and then stay in a local city (like Charlotte) for a weekend of activities.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony starts tomorrow on Wednesday, December 1st. It takes place in the plaza in front of the YMCA and starts at 5pm, and an hour later the lights will turn on at 6pm. Their Yule Log Ceremony will take place on December 16th at 5pm, and the Yule Log Parade will start at 5:50pm.
Make sure to plan properly. Since McAdenville is a really small town of only about 700, there’s bound to be some traffic every year when the visitors descend so come early (up to 45 minutes early would be ideal), bring snacks, and get ready for the best light show in the nation. If you decide to get out of the car and walk the route, you can find free street parking on Main Street and Elm Street.
The lights will be from 5:30 to 10pm every night from December 1st to December 26th.
