Dearest Gentle Reader,
The latest scandal will have to wait for it has been brought to my attention that a Candlelight musical performance of melodies from the acclaimed television series Bridgerton is arriving in Raleigh. Although a barn is not a place I, nor the more lavish families in the ton, care to frequent, there is something to be said for alternative event planning. Besides, the chandeliers and imperial staircase at Wakefield Barn are a far cry from dusty horse stalls.
Bridgerton’s riveting scenes tend to be accompanied by an energetic ensemble. But not just any ordinary compositions are toying with the viewer’s emotions; covers of contemporary music are reworked into the classical form for a nod to both the Regency Era and today’s less conservative audience. “Give Me Everything” encapsulates precisely the kind of tantalising indecency that unfolds in the back of the Featherington carriage, and the instrumentation of “Bad Guy” aptly measures Simon’s jealousy.
Candlelight: The Best of Bridgerton on Strings
If anyone shall reveal the circumstances of the event of the season, it is this author.
As you well know, dear reader, I am not above praising where praise is due, and Candlelight has truly outdone itself this time. Not long after the hype of the latest Bridgerton installments, Mayfair’s favourite soundtrack is to be celebrated with a concert illuminated by thousands of flickering candles. Familiar songs from the series will help you picture yourself clothed in Madame Delacroix’s finest gown, eating sugary pastries with a Bridgerton, or reliving the chemistry between Daphne and the Duke of Hastings.
Listen to the Lyricosa String Quartet perform everything from “Cheap Thrills” by Sia to “thank u, next” by Ariana Grande. The clever blend of a historic setting and candles, as well as the added luster of classical music notes, is destined to transport audiences to the likes of a High Society ball. Quite a rare find, indeed!
If, like the rest of Bridgerton fanatics, you are still suffering from a form of separation anxiety since the end of Season 3, find solace in this special concert.
Do not keep this a secret; I encourage you all to spread the word far and wide: Candlelight x Bridgerton is coming to steal your hearts on the 26th of September.
Yours truly,
Lady Whistledown
